Hands & Manipulation

Dexterous manipulation

Controlled handling of objects using articulated manipulators.

Overview

Dexterous manipulation concerns controlled contact and movement of objects. Articulated hands can offer additional contact configurations, but finger count and degrees of freedom alone do not establish reliable task performance. Figure describes revised hands in successive platforms, and Unitree documents optional configurations for G1. Articles should state the configuration used in a demonstrated task instead of treating an optional hand as standard equipment.[1][2]
