Force control

Control of contact forces during robotic interaction.

Overview

Force control regulates the forces a robot applies during contact rather than only tracking a desired position. It is useful when interaction with an environment matters, such as pressing on a surface. Position and force objectives require different control treatment. For humanoid articles, force sensing and force control are separate facts. A listed sensor does not prove that a specific manipulation controller was implemented or independently evaluated.[1]
